A major armed clash took place in the remote Alinagar area of Jungle Salimpur in Chattogram, where a group of around 250–300 armed men allegedly launched a coordinated attack on a joint security forces temporary camp late Sunday night.

According to officials, members of the so-called “Yasin group” used firearms, including AK-47-style rifles, locally made weapons, and heavy equipment such as bulldozers and excavators to block roads and damage infrastructure before attacking the camp.

The attackers reportedly cut off access routes by digging trenches and destroying key road points, delaying rapid reinforcement by army, police, RAB, and BGB units. Security personnel later engaged in a prolonged exchange of fire lasting nearly two hours using shotguns, tear gas, and service weapons.

Authorities said the attackers attempted to overrun a campsite located at a local school, damaging structures and looting property in nearby worker settlements. However, security forces resisted strongly, and the attackers eventually retreated into nearby hilly terrain.

No casualties among law enforcement or civilians were reported, though several suspects have been detained for questioning. A large-scale joint operation is ongoing to track down those involved, while additional forces have been deployed to restore control and stability in the area.
