5 Killed in bus-motorcycle collision in Gopalganj

At least five people were killed and around 20 others injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a motorcycle in Gopalganj on Eid-ul-Azha morning.

The accident took place on Thursday morning in the Bedgram area of the Dhaka-Khulna highway under Gopalganj Sadar upazila when a passenger bus operated by Dola Paribahan collided with an oncoming motorcycle, according to police and witnesses.

Locals, police, and fire service personnel rushed to the scene and rescued the injured, who were taken to Gopalganj Sadar Hospital and nearby medical facilities. Authorities confirmed that several victims died on the spot, while others succumbed to injuries after being taken to hospital.

Doctors said several of the injured remain in critical condition, raising fears that the death toll could rise further. The crash also caused temporary disruption to traffic on the highway before the damaged vehicles were removed.
