Bollywood actress Kiara Advani has spoken out about the double standards women face during and after pregnancy, saying society often praises expectant mothers but quickly criticizes them for physical changes after childbirth.

In a recent interview, Kiara reflected on how motherhood has transformed her life, describing the experience as deeply enriching and one that has given her a new perspective on herself, her work, and the world around her.

She also criticized societal attitudes toward women returning to work after childbirth, noting that public perception often shifts dramatically once a baby is born.

“While you're pregnant, people tell you how radiant and beautiful you look. But the moment you have a child, the comments change -- suddenly you're told you've gained weight or don't look the same,” she said.

Kiara argued that women are often celebrated during pregnancy but expected to quickly return to their pre-pregnancy appearance and routine after giving birth. She stressed that the postpartum period is one of the most challenging phases in a woman's life and requires greater emotional and physical support.
