Bangladesh's Health Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain on Monday said the investigation report into the deaths of six newborns at Ad-Din Hospital in Dhaka's Moghbazar area will be submitted by June 3, as authorities continue efforts to determine the cause of the tragedy.

Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat after the Eid holidays, the minister said the government was treating the incident with the utmost importance and that both the Health Ministry and the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) were conducting separate investigations.

Sakhawat said he had personally visited the hospital and that additional information, including statements from the mothers of the deceased infants, was being collected to ensure a comprehensive and evidence-based report.

He noted that the report was initially expected earlier, but required additional time to gather necessary information. The findings are now expected by June 3.

The minister also said the government had discussed the legal aspects of the case with the Attorney General and would take action in accordance with the law once the investigation is completed.

Responding to questions about the absence of autopsies, he said authorities had sought consent from the families, but none agreed to postmortem examinations. A case has already been filed, and further legal steps will depend on the investigation's findings.
