DU Proctor Professor Saifuddin Ahmed resigns

University of Dhaka Proctor Professor Saifuddin Ahmed has resigned from his post, submitting his resignation letter to Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. A B M Obaidul Islam on Sunday.
Saifuddin said he stepped down from the position for personal reasons and added that he now wants to take some time to rest after submitting the resignation.
Confirming the matter, the vice-chancellor told media that a decision regarding the proctor’s replacement would be taken soon.

Following the political transition after the July 2024 uprising and the fall of the previous government, Saifuddin, a professor of the Department of Peace and Conflict Studies, was appointed as Dhaka University proctor on August 28 last year.
After the 13th parliamentary election in February this year, which brought BNP to power, the university also saw the appointment of a new vice-chancellor and pro-vice-chancellor over the past two months.
His resignation has already sparked fresh discussion within the university community.
