Bangladesh received 683.37 million (68 crore 33 lakh 70 thousand) USD in remittance during the first six days of the current month of June. On average, this amounts to nearly 113.9 million USD entering the country every day.

Arif Hossain Khan, spokesperson for Bangladesh Bank, shared this information on Sunday (June 7).

He noted that during the same period last year, the country received 862.59 million USD in remittance. Compared to that period, the inflow of remittance has shown a slight decline during the same timeframe this year.

However, overall, the growth trend of expatriate income has continued throughout the current fiscal year. From July of the current fiscal year up to June 6, Bangladesh received a total of 33.44 billion (3,344 crore 1 lakh 70 thousand) USD in remittance, which is 17.88% higher than the amount received during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.

According to data from Bangladesh Bank, the country pulled in 3.42 billion (342 crore 50 lakh 30 thousand) USD in remittance this past May. This stands as the second-highest monthly inward remittance record in the country's history. Prior to this, the highest-ever monthly remittance record was set in March, with an inflow of 3.75 billion (375 crore 50 lakh 50 thousand) USD.

Additionally, remittance inflows stood at 3.12 billion USD in April, 3.02 billion USD in February, and 3.17 billion USD in January.

The growth in remittance was also steady during the first half of the current fiscal year, with 3.22 billion USD arriving in December, 2.88 billion USD in November, 2.56 billion USD in October, and 2.68 billion USD in September.

On the other hand, expatriates sent home 2.42 billion USD in August and 2.47 billion USD in July.

According to Central Bank data, Bangladesh received a total of 30.32 billion USD in remittance during the 2024-25 fiscal year. This remains the highest-ever inward remittance recorded in a single fiscal year in the history of Bangladesh.
