Gold prices in Bangladesh have declined once again, with the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) reducing the price of gold by Tk4,432 per bhori (11.664 grams) and silver by Tk58 per bhori, citing lower prices of acid gold and pure silver in the local market alongside international market trends.
The revised prices came into effect on Friday, June 12, according to a notification issued by Bajus.
Under the new rates, 22-carat gold is being sold at Tk218,350 per bhori, down from the previous price of Tk222,782. The price of 21-carat gold has been set at Tk208,436 per bhori, while 18-carat gold now costs Tk178,692. Traditional-method gold is priced at Tk145,508 per bhori.
Silver prices have also been adjusted downward. A bhori of 22-carat silver is now priced at Tk4,841, while 21-carat silver costs Tk4,607. The price of 18-carat silver has been fixed at Tk3,966 per bhori, and traditional silver at Tk2,974.
Bajus said the latest adjustment reflects fluctuations in international markets and changes in the prices of acid gold and refined silver in the domestic market. The association regularly reviews and revises prices to maintain market stability.
According to Bajus data, gold prices have been revised 73 times so far this year, including 37 increases and 36 reductions. Silver prices have been adjusted 44 times, with prices rising and falling 22 times each.
Market analysts believe continued volatility in global precious metal prices could lead to further adjustments in the domestic market in the coming months.
