7 more children die of measles symptoms, detected 1287

Seven more children have died across the country in the last 24 hours from symptoms associated with measles. During the same period, 1,287 new cases of measles or its symptoms have been detected.

This information was revealed on Sunday (June 7) in the regular measles report released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

According to the report, four children died of measles symptoms in the Dhaka division within the span of a single day. Additionally, three more children passed away—one each in the Chittagong, Mymensingh, and Khulna divisions. This brings the total number of deaths nationwide from measles and its symptoms to 620 between March 15 and June 7.

Meanwhile, 66 new cases of measles were officially confirmed in the country over the last 24 hours. During the same timeframe, another 1,221 individuals exhibited symptoms of the disease. In total, since March 15, 9,686 people have been diagnosed with measles, and symptoms have been found in 79,012 individuals.

According to DGHS data, a total of 64,263 people have been admitted to hospitals across the country with measles and its symptoms from March 15 of this year until Sunday. Among them, 60,084 individuals have been discharged after recovering following their treatment.

With the rise in measles infections, the Directorate General of Health Services has urged parents to ensure their children receive vaccinations on time, maintain cleanliness, and seek immediate medical advice if any symptoms appear.
