Tamim Iqbal is set to become the elected president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
Earlier on April 7, the National Sports Council (NSC) dissolved the board led by Aminul Islam Bulbul and formed an ad-hoc committee with Tamim Iqbal as the president. Now, by winning the election, the former captain has permanently taken charge of the cricket board.
On Sunday (June 7) afternoon, Tamim Iqbal Khan won a director position after securing the highest number of votes in the election held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. He received the highest 73 votes among the directors.
Subsequently, the former Bangladesh captain was elected BCB President by the votes of the newly elected directors. Fahim Sinha has been elected as the Vice-President.

The candidates who lost the election are Borhanul Pappu, Amzad Hossain, Fayazur Rahman Mitu, and Imroz Ahmed. Tamim Iqbal topped the charts with 73 votes.
Saeed Ibrahim Ahmed and Ishrafil Khosru secured the second-highest votes with 72 each. Following them, Masuduzzaman received 70 votes, and Faisal Yasir secured 68 votes.
Fahim Sinha and Shaniyan Tanim bagged 66 votes each. Asif Rabbani received 64 votes, while Mirza Yasir Abbas secured 63 votes. Rafiqul Islam Babu got 53 votes, and Dr. Shamim received 41 votes. In the club category, there were 76 total votes, out of which 74 votes were cast.
Among the four defeated candidates, Borhanul Pappu received 40 votes, Amzad Hossain 32, Fayzur Mitu 23, and Major Imroz Ahmed secured 20 votes.
