Agricultural officials in Dinajpur are expecting a bumper jackfruit harvest this season, driven by favourable weather conditions and suitable soil, with a production target of 80,650 tonnes set across the district's 13 upazilas.
According to Md Ezamul Haque, jackfruit production has been increasing steadily in the district due to its conducive growing conditions. Field-level data have already been collected from 103 unions and nine municipalities across all 13 upazilas.
Officials said recent storms and rainfall caused some damage to mango and litchi crops, but jackfruit orchards remained largely unaffected. If weather conditions remain favourable through the end of the season, production could surpass the official target.
Local growers reported abundant fruiting this year, with many household trees carrying heavy yields. Farmers expect to meet household demand and sell surplus produce in local markets once harvesting begins.

In Ghoraghat Upazila alone, agricultural officials estimate production of around 8,450 tonnes from 576 hectares of land and homestead plantations, reflecting strong yields across the district.
