The retail price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and autogas has been reduced for June, offering some relief to consumers after recent price hikes. The new rates will take effect nationwide from 6 pm on Tuesday.
The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has cut the price of a 12kg LPG cylinder by Tk55, setting the new retail price at Tk1,885 for June, down from Tk1,940 in May.
The regulator also lowered the price of autogas by Tk2.59 per litre. The new price, including VAT, has been fixed at Tk86.93 per litre, compared with Tk89.52 previously.
The latest adjustment follows sharp increases in LPG prices in April, when the cost of a 12kg cylinder rose by a combined Tk599 in two separate revisions, eventually reaching Tk1,940.

BERC said the revised prices were determined in line with changes in international market rates. The commission has been adjusting LPG prices on a monthly basis since April 2021, using international benchmark prices for propane and butane, as well as local exchange rates and import costs.
The price reduction is expected to ease household cooking expenses and lower operating costs for vehicles that run on autogas.
