Apple has announced the end of official support for several older devices, including select MacBook, iPad and Apple TV models, meaning users will no longer receive software updates, security patches or guaranteed repair services.

Among the products newly added to Apple's vintage list is the 13-inch MacBook Air (13-inch, 2017). Devices classified as vintage may still receive limited repairs through Apple Stores or authorized service providers if replacement parts remain available.

Meanwhile, all versions of the iPad mini 4 and the 32GB version of the Apple TV HD have been moved to the obsolete category. As a result, Apple will no longer provide official hardware repairs or service support for these products.

Technology analysts note that devices no longer receiving software and security updates could face increased cybersecurity risks over time, as newly discovered vulnerabilities may remain unpatched.

Under Apple's product lifecycle policy, devices are generally classified as vintage five years after they were last sold, while products discontinued for more than seven years are designated as obsolete and become ineligible for official hardware support.
