U.S. President Donald Trump has criticized past American military involvement in the Middle East, saying the United States should not have gone to war in Iraq or become involved in Iran.

In an interview with Fox News, Trump described the U.S. invasion of Iraq as a major mistake, arguing that Washington should never have entered the country in the first place.

“Look at what happened in Iraq. We did very badly. It was an incredibly foolish thing to do,” he said, adding that U.S. involvement in Iran was also misguided.

At the same time, Trump defended a reported B-2 bomber strike against Iran carried out nine months ago, claiming it prevented Tehran from obtaining a nuclear weapon and helped avert a broader regional conflict.

The president also said the United States did not seek to target Iran’s entire military structure, arguing that military operations should focus on specific objectives rather than causing the complete destruction of a country and creating long-term instability.

Trump’s remarks are likely to reignite debate over U.S. military interventions and Washington’s broader policy in the Middle East.
