The victim's father and case plaintiff, Abdul Hannan Molla, along with her mother, Parveen Akhter, testified in court today in the case involving the rape and murder of eight-year-old child Ramisa Akhter in the capital's Pallabi area.

They testified before the Dhaka Metropolitan Child Violence Suppression Tribunal on Tuesday (June 2). While giving his testimony, Ramisa's father, Abdul Hannan Molla, became deeply emotional. Feeling unwell, he completed his deposition while seated in a chair with the court's permission.

He informed the court that he had gone to his office on the morning of the incident and later returned home after receiving a phone call from his wife. Upon reaching the third floor of the building, he learned that child Ramisa was trapped inside a flat.

According to his statement, after opening the door with the help of locals, they found blood in front of the toilet. Later, when they lifted a bed inside the suspects' room, they discovered the child's body.

During cross-examination, he stated that he presented exactly what he witnessed with his own eyes to the court. He also mentioned that he had no prior enmity or acquaintance with the defendants.

Ramisa's mother, Parveen Akhter, testified in the same court. She stated that she was busy cooking on the morning of the incident. Later, she asked her eldest daughter to take her younger sister, Ramisa, to their uncle's house. A short while later, she heard a scream but did not give it much importance.

When the eldest daughter returned alone without Ramisa, she began searching for her. At one point, she noticed her daughter's shoes under the door of the suspects' third-floor flat, she told the court.

She further added that since the door was not being opened, local residents gathered, and the police were informed through relatives.

In the presence of the accused in court, Parveen Akhter broke down in tears and alleged that the main accused, Sohel Rana, and his wife, Swapna Khatun, were involved in the incident.

Following the conclusion of the testimonies, the court scheduled the date for the next hearing of the case.
