Govt to support flood-hit haor farmers for three months

The government will provide three months of financial assistance to farmers affected in the haor region, with each eligible farmer receiving at least Tk 7,500.

Agriculture, Fisheries, and Livestock Minister Mohammad Aminur Rashid announced this on Monday after the Deputy Commissioners’ Conference at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka.

He said the Ministries of Agriculture and Disaster Management are preparing a list of affected farmers, and the support will come from the Prime Minister’s relief fund and the Disaster Management Ministry.

The minister said the amount may increase depending on the level of damage, although full compensation may not be possible.

Field officials are categorising farmers and preparing the final list, while the support programme will continue for up to three months.
