Bangladesh failed to carry their ODI momentum into the T20I series, suffering a four-wicket defeat to Australia in the opening match at Chattogram on Wednesday as the visitors took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

After winning the toss, Bangladesh were bowled out for 131 in 19 overs following another disappointing batting display. With regular captain Litton Das sidelined through injury, the hosts struggled for partnerships after a cautious start. Saif Hassan top-scored among the recognized batters with 20, while Soumya Sarkar made 17. An unbeaten 29 from Mehidy Hasan Miraz helped Bangladesh post a modest total. For Australia, Adam Zampa and Nabin Joel Davis claimed three wickets each, while Matt Renshaw took two.

Australia chased down the target with 10 balls to spare despite losing six wickets. Debutant Abdul Gaffar Saklain impressed with two wickets, dismissing Cooper Connolly and Renshaw. Connolly, however, top-scored with 47 runs, while James David contributed 20 to guide the visitors to victory. Mustafizur Rahman, Shoriful Islam, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, and Rishad Hossain picked up one wicket each.
