Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman has described the proposed Tk 9.38 trillion budget for FY2026-27 as an ambitious roadmap for building a self-reliant Bangladesh, saying it prioritises employment, social protection, agriculture, and skills-based education despite ongoing economic challenges.
Speaking during the general discussion on the proposed budget in Parliament on Thursday, the minister said the budget was designed to serve the interests of low-income and middle-income groups, businesses, and young job seekers. He argued that the spending plan reflects the government's long-term development strategy rather than a short-term policy response.

The minister said the budget maintains agricultural subsidies, expands social safety net programmes, increases allocations for technical and madrasa education, and focuses on employment generation through infrastructure, river restoration, and afforestation projects. He also said the government remains committed to controlling inflation, strengthening the banking sector, improving governance, and curbing money laundering as part of its broader economic reform agenda.
