27 Bangladeshi pilgrims have died so far on Hajj

A total of 27 Bangladeshi pilgrims have died in Saudi Arabia so far during this year’s Hajj, according to officials at the Bangladesh Hajj Mission in Makkah.

Among the deceased are 18 men and nine women. Of them, 18 died in Makkah and nine in Madinah, officials said during a special coordination meeting held at the Bangladesh Hajj Mission to review the overall Hajj management and current situation.

The meeting was informed that a total of 79,164 Bangladeshi pilgrims have arrived in Saudi Arabia under both government and private management through 201 flights this year.

The latest death was reported on May 22, when 61-year-old Mohammad Nazrul Islam from Rangunia in Chattogram died in Makkah after suffering cardiac arrest.

According to Hajj Mission data, the death rate among Bangladeshi pilgrims has declined compared to previous years. A total of 48 pilgrims died during Hajj in 2025, 65 in 2024, 121 in 2023, and 117 in 2019.

Officials also said the use of digital healthcare and service systems has increased this year. So far, more than 47,000 medical prescriptions and over 21,000 digital services have been provided to pilgrims.
