Prime Minister’s Political Adviser Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Sunday said good relations between Bangladesh and India would not be possible if repeated killings continue along the border.

Speaking at the 45th National Council 2026 of the Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh, he said Bangladesh wants friendly relations, but repeated bloodshed at the border damages trust between the two countries.

Referring to the recent shooting incident in Brahmanbaria, where two Bangladeshis were reportedly shot, Rizvi questioned why Bangladeshis continue to be targeted at the border.

He said even ordinary people in India do not support such incidents and stressed that Delhi must move away from violence if it wants to build a stable and positive relationship with Bangladesh.

Addressing diploma engineers, he said they play an important role in building the nation’s infrastructure and should be properly valued for their contribution to development and production.

Rizvi also said the government remains committed to fulfilling its election promises and working with accountability to the people.
