Garment factories to get staggered Eid holidays to manage rush

The government has decided to introduce staggered Eid holidays for garment factories to ease homebound travel and reduce traffic congestion on highways ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.
The decision was announced on Monday at a press briefing at the Secretariat by Road Transport, Shipping, and Railways Minister Sheikh Robiul Alam.
The minister said the sudden closure of all garment factories at once during the last Eid al-Fitr created severe pressure on highways, leading to widespread traffic chaos and travel disruptions.
Learning from that experience, the government has taken the initiative to implement phased holidays this year to distribute passenger movement more evenly and reduce pressure on roads and livestock transport vehicles.

He also said that 69 mobile courts will be deployed to maintain discipline on highways during the Eid period.
The minister added that several coordinated measures are being taken in advance for Eid al-Adha, with special instructions issued to ensure smooth traffic management and orderly movement of sacrificial animal transport vehicles.
