BNP Secretary General and Local Government Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has expressed hope that newly elected women MPs from reserved seats will play a responsible role in strengthening democracy and making parliament more effective.
He made the remarks on Monday after paying tribute at the graves of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, along with the newly elected women lawmakers.
Mirza Fakhrul said the women MPs are expected to work for justice, equality, and institutional democracy, and to raise strong voices in parliament for the people’s long-standing aspirations.
