Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed on Monday said that corruption within the police force will not be tolerated and that strict action will be taken against any member violating discipline.

He made the remarks at a programme held at the Shapla Hall of the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon, Dhaka, during Police Week 2026, where senior police officials received policy guidance.

The minister stressed that personal integrity and institutional transparency have no alternative, adding that a zero-tolerance policy against corruption must be strictly maintained. He warned that those breaking the chain of command would face disciplinary action.

“We want to take the police force to a stage where corruption will not be tolerated in any form,” he said.

He also announced plans to expand the use of body-worn cameras to increase transparency in policing and traffic management. He said the initiative aims to reduce public harassment, improve accountability, and ensure recorded evidence of police operations, investigations, and enforcement activities.

The minister added that the government is working to ensure greater transparency in services such as police clearance and to prevent past complaints of public inconvenience.
