Measles deaths 9 more in 24 hours, toll rises to 424

Measles infections and deaths are increasing at an alarming rate across the country. In the last few weeks, 9 more children have died in the capital and other parts of the country due to the deadly disease measles and its symptoms in the last 24 hours. Of these, 3 were confirmed to have measles, while the remaining 6 children died with measles symptoms.
During the same period, 68 people have died from confirmed measles and another 356 have died with measles symptoms. The total number of deaths so far has reached 424.
At the same time, 1,105 new suspected measles patients have been identified and 87 more children have been confirmed to have measles in their bodies.

This worrying information was confirmed in a regular press release sent on Tuesday (May 12) afternoon from the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services.
The latest statistics have been prepared based on information received from across the country from 8 am on Monday (May 11) to 8 am on Tuesday (May 12), the Directorate General of Health Services said.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services, the measles outbreak that started on March 15 this year has now turned into a major public health crisis. So far, the total number of suspected measles patients across the country has stood at 51,567. Of these, 7,240 have been identified as confirmed measles patients.
The department's calculations show that as the number of infected people is increasing, the pressure to admit patients to hospitals is also increasing rapidly. So far, 36,881 people have been admitted to various hospitals in the country on suspicion of measles. 32,877 people have recovered and left the hospital after treatment. In the last 24 hours alone, 1,192 people have been admitted to hospitals with measles and symptoms, the control room said.
