Nadimur Rahman, the son of late Jamaat-e-Islami leader Motiur Rahman Nizami, has joined the National Citizen Party (NCP), party spokesperson Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan confirmed.
The announcement was made on Tuesday at a press conference at the party’s temporary central office at Rupayan Tower in Dhaka’s Banglamotor, where several individuals from different professions formally joined the party.
At the event, members of various backgrounds, including descendants of historical figures, professionals, and activists from the “Warriors of July” movement, were also inducted into the party.
NCP leaders present at the event included spokesperson Asif Mahmud, chief organiser Sarjis Alam, and other senior leaders, who welcomed the new members with flowers.

Asif Mahmud said that dissatisfaction within BNP’s current politics is growing and that even members of political families linked to senior BNP leaders have been in contact with his party. He suggested that more figures from established political families may join NCP in the future.
He also criticised the government’s political direction, accusing it of failing to implement earlier commitments, and called for immediate local government elections, warning against prolonged administrative control without public mandate.
The event marked a broader political recruitment drive as NCP continues to expand its base ahead of future political activities.
