16 die of Covid-19, fresh cases 813 in 24 hours: DGHS

A total of 16 people have died from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours till 8:00am on Thursday, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The total number of deaths has now reached 7,849 and the death rate stands at 1.49 percent.

At least 813 new infections were recorded in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 525,723, added the release.

A total of 883 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours.

Among the total infections, 89.48 percent patients have recovered and 1.49 percent died so far since the first Covid-19 positive case was reported in the country on March 8, BSS added.

The current positivity rate is 4.9 percent.

A total of 16,608 samples were tested across the country. Besides, at least 4,70,705 have recovered so far.
