PM Tarique Rahman arrives in Beijing after Dalian Visit

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman arrived in Beijing on Wednesday following his engagements in Dalian, where he attended the World Economic Forum's Annual Meeting of the New Champions, widely known as the Summer Davos Forum. Upon his arrival, the Bangladeshi premier was accorded a ceremonial reception and full state honours by the Chinese authorities.

The Prime Minister and his wife, Dr Zubaida Rahman, reached Chaoyang Railway Station in Beijing at 5:35 p.m. local time after travelling aboard a high-speed bullet train from Dalian. They were welcomed with a red-carpet reception and a guard of honour before being escorted in a special motorcade to the historic Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, where the Prime Minister, his spouse, and the accompanying high-level delegation will reside throughout the Beijing leg of the visit. The tour marks Tarique Rahman's first official overseas visit as Prime Minister since assuming office on 17 February, following the ruling party's landslide victory in the 13th parliamentary election.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Rahman participated in the World Economic Forum's Summer Davos in Dalian, joining global leaders, policymakers, and business executives to discuss pressing economic and development challenges. He departed Dalian North Railway Station at 1:58 p.m. local time for Beijing after concluding his engagements at the international forum. His China visit follows a successful two-day bilateral trip to Malaysia, underscoring Bangladesh's renewed diplomatic outreach across Asia.

The Prime Minister is accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit, Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir, Overseas Employment Adviser Mahdi Amin, and Defence Adviser Brig Gen (Retd.) Dr AKM Shamsul Islam, Additional Press Secretary, Atikur Rahman Ruman, Deputy Press Secretary Zahidul Islam Roni, and other senior government officials. The visit is expected to further strengthen Bangladesh-China strategic cooperation, with bilateral meetings and high-level engagements scheduled during the Prime Minister's stay in Beijing.
