Reliance Industries has unveiled an ambitious strategy to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) across phone calls, mobile applications, and smart home devices, as Chairman Mukesh Ambani pledged to position India as a global leader in AI innovation rather than merely a consumer of foreign technologies.

Speaking at the company's Annual General Meeting, Ambani introduced a suite of AI-powered services designed to enhance everyday digital experiences. Among the flagship innovations is Jio Call Agent, an AI assistant capable of joining phone conversations, generating transcripts, producing concise summaries, and completing a range of tasks, including booking taxis, ordering food, and accessing various digital services. Reliance said the feature could be rolled out to more than 500 million Jio subscribers by the end of this year and, notably, would function directly through the telecom network without requiring a separate application.

The company also announced an AI-enhanced version of the MyJio app, enabling users to activate eSIMs, select international roaming packages, and perform other functions through simple voice or text commands. In addition, Reliance unveiled Jio Teleframe, a smart home device designed to provide weather updates, daily schedules, and personalised reminders, underscoring the company's broader ambition to embed AI seamlessly into consumers' daily lives.

Reliance further revealed plans to develop AI-driven solutions for healthcare, education, agriculture, and small businesses in multiple Indian languages while strengthening strategic partnerships with technology giants, including Google, Meta, and Nvidia, to expand its AI infrastructure. However, the company's growing AI ecosystem has also prompted concerns over data privacy and cybersecurity, as it has yet to clarify how users' personal information and communications will be collected, stored, and protected.
