A mild earthquake was felt in Dhaka and several other parts of Bangladesh at around 9:29 p.m. on Monday, prompting residents to rush out of homes and buildings in precaution. No immediate reports of casualties or property damage were available.
The tremor was experienced in the capital as well as several districts across the country. Although the shaking lasted only a few seconds, it caused widespread alarm among residents, many of whom evacuated residential and commercial buildings as a precautionary measure. Authorities had not received any confirmed reports of injuries or structural damage at the time of filing this report.
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) and other relevant authorities were assessing the event to determine its magnitude, epicentre and depth. As of Monday night, no official seismic parameters had been released.

Bangladesh lies in a seismically active region and has experienced several mild earthquakes in recent weeks. Earlier this month, a magnitude 5.6 earthquake with its epicentre in Bhutan and a separate 4.5-magnitude tremor near India's Silchar, close to the Sylhet border, were felt across large parts of the country without causing significant damage.
