Biplab Kumar among six police officers dismissed

Six police officers, including former Dhaka Metropolitan Police Joint Commissioner Biplab Kumar Sarkar, have been dismissed from service for allegedly remaining absent from their respective workplaces without authorisation.

The Home Ministry issued a notification to this effect on Wednesday, naming the other dismissed officers as Kazi Ashraful Azim, Md Golam Ruhani, Sudip Kumar Chakraborty, Rajan Kumar Das and Md Iqbal Hossain. Among them, Biplab Kumar, Sudip Kumar Chakraborty and Iqbal Hossain had been temporarily suspended and attached to the offices of the Barishal or Khulna range deputy inspector general, while Kazi Ashraful Azim had been attached to the Chattogram range DIG’s office. Golam Ruhani and Rajan Kumar Das were suspended and listed as absconding.

The ministry said the dismissals were made under the relevant provisions of the Government Service Act, 2018. Biplab Kumar had previously been temporarily suspended and attached to the Barishal Range DIG’s office following his tenure as a DMP joint commissioner.
