Students to visit July Uprising Museum weekly

The government will arrange weekly visits for school students to the July Memorial Museum under a state-led initiative aimed at instilling in young people the history and sacrifices of last year's July mass uprising, the Prime Minister's information adviser Dr Jahed Ur Rahman announced Tuesday.

Speaking at the Information and Broadcasting Ministry's weekly press briefing at the Secretariat, Rahman said the museum had opened despite earlier scepticism about whether it would materialise, though its launch was initially marred by management difficulties that have since been resolved. He attributed the early disruption to overwhelming visitor turnout, noting that public interest in the museum had proven far greater than anticipated, straining its capacity to manage crowds in the immediate aftermath of its opening.

With those operational issues now largely ironed out, Rahman said the government would begin organising regular, government-facilitated visits bringing school students to the museum on a weekly basis, with the explicit goal of familiarising them with the history of the July uprising, the sacrifices made during the movement, and its broader significance for the country.
