Remittances hit $915m in eight days of August

Expatriate Bangladeshis have sent remittances of around $915 million, or approximately $91.5 crore, in the first eight days of August of the current fiscal year 2026-27.

The amount is 42.9 per cent higher than the same period in FY 2025-26, according to the Bangladesh Bank's latest data on Sunday, August 9.

The central bank said the country received about $3.773 billion in remittances from July to August 8 in the current FY, showing a 21 per cent growth compared to the same period in the last FY 2025-26.

The increasing trend in sending remittances through banking channels is also having a positive impact on the country's foreign exchange inflows.

Those concerned say that this continuation of remittances will not only help restore foreign exchange reserves but will also help maintain macroeconomic stability.
