Five members of a family, including a woman and her three children, were found with their throats slit to death in Kapasia upazila of Gazipur on Saturday morning, with police suspecting the woman’s husband as the prime accused.

The bodies were recovered from a rented house in Rautkona village, owned by expatriate Monir Hossain. Police said the killings likely took place on Friday night.

The deceased were identified as Sharmin, 30, wife of private car driver Forqan Mia; their three daughters—Mim, 15, Maria, 8, and Fariha, 2—and Sharmin’s younger brother, Rasul Mia, 22.

Witnesses described a horrific scene, with the three children’s bodies lying side by side on the floor, Rasul’s body found on the bed, and Sharmin’s body discovered near a window with her hands and mouth tied.

According to police and locals, Forqan had been living in the house with his family as tenants for about a year. Neighbors said the couple often had domestic disputes, leading investigators to suspect that he may have killed his wife, children, and brother-in-law before fleeing.

Kapasia Police Station Officer-in-Charge Shahinur Alam said preliminary findings suggest the murders were linked to family conflict.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Ashfaq Uzzaman said the bodies were being sent for autopsy, while multiple police teams were conducting raids to arrest the absconding suspect.
