Tanjin Tisha gets bail, says she will reveal evidence ‘in time’

Popular television actress Tanjin Tisha has been granted bail in a case alleging the misappropriation of a saree, after appearing before a Dhaka court and describing the proceedings as a deliberate attempt to harass her. Tisha surrendered before Metropolitan Magistrate Jewel Rana on Thursday and sought bail through her lawyer, which the court granted following a hearing.

Speaking to reporters on the court premises, Tisha alleged that the complainant, a woman, had used her husband’s influence to harass and threaten her. She said she possessed substantial information related to the allegations and would disclose it publicly at an appropriate time. Calling the case motivated, she questioned why she had been forced to appear in court over an allegation involving a saree worth Tk 27,000, stressing that she had worked honestly in the entertainment industry for 15 years.

Tisha also criticised what she described as harassment by one woman against another, saying the complainant also had a family and personal life. She expressed hope that no one else would be subjected to similar harassment in the future and said she expected justice through the courts. The case was filed in a Dhaka court in November last year on allegations of fraud and breach of trust, with the complainant alleging that Tisha took a saree, failed to pay for it and subsequently cut off communication.
