Colombian pop star Shakira is set to return to the FIFA World Cup stage with the official theme song for the 2026 tournament, marking another high-profile comeback to football’s biggest event.

The upcoming World Cup, scheduled to be held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, will feature a new official song titled “Dai Dai,” which will be released globally on May 14.

This time, Shakira will be joined by Nigerian Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy, bringing together Latin pop and Afrobeat influences in a cross-cultural collaboration designed to reflect the diversity of the tournament.

The song is expected to highlight the multicultural identity of the 2026 World Cup, blending energetic Afrobeat rhythms with Shakira’s signature Latin pop style.

A teaser video recently shared by Shakira on social media, filmed at Maracanã Stadium, featured dancers dressed in the colors of the host nations and symbolic references to previous World Cup match balls, celebrating her long history with the tournament.

Shakira has previously delivered some of the most iconic World Cup songs, including “Hips Don’t Lie,” “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” in 2010, and “La La La” in 2014, with “Waka Waka” remaining one of the most popular football anthems in history.

The 2026 World Cup will be the largest in history, featuring 48 teams and running from June 11 to July 19.
