Measles outbreak claims 11 more children, death toll hits 409

Another 11 children have died from measles and measles-related symptoms across Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, raising the total death toll to 409 since March 15.
According to the latest report released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Sunday, four of the latest deaths were confirmed measles cases, while seven children died with measles-like symptoms.
During the same period, 1,708 more children were newly identified with measles or related symptoms.
Health officials said that since March 15, a total of 65 children have died from confirmed measles infections, while 344 others died with symptoms, bringing the combined death toll to 409.

So far, 6,819 children have tested positive for measles, while 49,159 children with symptoms have been admitted to hospitals nationwide.
Dhaka division remains the worst affected, recording 179 deaths and 26,828 infections.
The data covers the period from 8:00am on March 15 to 8:00am on May 10.
