The government on Thursday appointed 86 Deputy Attorneys General and 179 Assistant Attorneys General to represent the state in the higher courts, simultaneously annulling the appointments of all previously serving officers in these positions.

Separate gazette notifications issued by the Solicitor's Office of the Ministry of Law under presidential order confirmed the sweeping reshuffle, which takes effect immediately under the powers granted by Article 3(1) of the Bangladesh Law Officers Order, 1972 (P.O. No. 6 of 1972). The notification specified that all prior appointment orders for deputy and assistant attorneys general stand cancelled, with the newly named 86 and 179 officers to hold their respective posts until further orders are issued under the same statutory authority.

The wholesale replacement of the state's legal representation team in the higher judiciary reflects a broader pattern of institutional restructuring underway across Bangladesh's legal and administrative apparatus since the change in government, though the notification did not specify the rationale behind the mass appointments or provide details on the individual officers named.
