Bangladesh’s women endured a dispiriting tour of Australia, slumping to an eight-wicket defeat in the third and final ODI at Allan Border Field in Brisbane on Wednesday and losing the series 3-0.

Electing to bat first in a bid to avert a clean sweep, Bangladesh suffered an early collapse as Australia’s pace attack reduced them to 18 for three. Sharmin Akhter and Shorna Akter subsequently mounted a recovery, scoring 50 off 93 balls and 54 off 71 balls respectively, with Shorna’s innings marking her maiden ODI half-century. Nevertheless, their dismissals triggered a fresh collapse through the middle and lower order, and the visitors were bowled out for 172 in 49.5 overs. Megan Schutt spearheaded the attack with four wickets for just 16 runs, while Annabel Sutherland claimed two.

In reply, Australia briefly came under pressure after losing two wickets for 38 in 5.2 overs, as Sultana Khatun trapped Georgia Voll leg before for 13 and Disha Biswas bowled opener Beth Mooney for 21. However, the early breakthroughs failed to derail the hosts, with Ellyse Perry and Sutherland taking firm control of the chase.

Moreover, the pair added an unbeaten 137 off 104 balls for the third wicket to steer Australia home with 164 balls to spare. Perry finished unbeaten on 65 off 64 balls, including eight fours, while Sutherland blasted an unbeaten 74 off 52 deliveries, hitting 12 boundaries. Schutt was named both player of the match and player of the series after claiming 10 wickets at an economy rate of 2.36.
