The results of this year’s Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations are likely to be published between October 25 and 29, after the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee submitted a proposal to the Education Ministry to fix a date within that window.

Professor Syed Akhtaruzzaman, chairman of the Dhaka Education Board and president of the committee, confirmed the development on Monday, October 12, explaining that the proposal had been made verbally and that approval from the ministry was awaited. The results will be formally announced only once the ministry confirms the date. According to board officials, this year’s examinations began on July 2, with written tests scheduled to conclude on August 8 and practicals by August 15. However, natural disasters disrupted several written papers under the Chattogram Education Board, postponing their completion until September 9, which in turn prolonged the preparation of the overall results.

A total of 1,270,583 students from 9,439 institutions sat the examinations under 11 education boards, at 2,697 centres nationwide. Among the nine general boards, Dhaka recorded the highest participation, with 300,393 candidates at 310 centres, followed by Rajshahi with 140,830, Jashore with 117,210, Dinajpur with 113,479, Chattogram with 99,688, Cumilla with 94,802, Mymensingh with 73,037, Sylhet with 71,711 and Barishal with 58,664. Meanwhile, the Madrasa Education Board registered 92,905 candidates across 461 centres, while 107,964 students took the examinations under the Technical Education Board at 610 centres.

Inter-board officials said that the evaluation of answer scripts from the postponed examinations and the compilation of results were nearing completion, and they expect to publish the results within the proposed timeframe, subject to ministerial approval. Nevertheless, the timetable remains provisional, and the final date will ultimately depend on the ministry’s decision.
