The Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh has urged Bangladeshi nationals living in Saudi Arabia to remain highly vigilant amid escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, warning them to strictly comply with local security directives and legal requirements, particularly those governing the recording, storing, and sharing of sensitive information about the regional situation.
In an urgent advisory issued on Monday, October 12, the embassy outlined several precautions to safeguard expatriates and help them avoid legal complications. It warned that recording or circulating sensitive information, photographs or video footage related to the evolving situation in the Middle East could constitute a serious criminal offence under Saudi law.
Bangladeshi nationals were advised not to publish or share such content on social media platforms, including Facebook, YouTube and X, formerly known as Twitter. The embassy also urged them not to store sensitive photographs or videos on their mobile phones or exchange them with others. It cautioned expatriates against any provocative or irresponsible conduct that could violate Saudi Arabia’s legal framework.
The advisory further called on Bangladeshis to exercise extra caution when travelling, avoid high-risk areas and overcrowded locations, and strictly follow security instructions issued by Saudi authorities and local law enforcement agencies. Given the rapidly changing regional situation, the embassy urged expatriates to avoid rumours and rely on verified information published through its official Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/bdembassyriyadh.
