PM chairs meeting on Dhaka traffic chaos

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has chaired a high-level meeting to address the disorder in Dhaka's public transport, the worsening traffic congestion and the wider challenges of road management in the capital.
The meeting was held on Thursday morning in the Cabinet Division conference room at the Secretariat, according to the Prime Minister's Office. It focused on devising ways to resolve the city's transport and traffic problems and to restore effective discipline on the roads. Discussions covered public transport management, road safety and measures to eradicate the existing disorder in the sector, and the prime minister is understood to have issued several directives on these matters.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Shaikh Rabiul Alam, State Minister Habibur Rashid, Local Government State Minister Mir Shahe Alam, Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority Executive Director Mohammad Mashiur Rahman, Road Transport and Highways Division Secretary Dr Mohammad Ziaul Haque and Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed were among those present.
