5.6-magnitude earthquake felt in Bangladesh

An earthquake has been felt in Dhaka and various other parts of Bangladesh, with its epicenter located in Bhutan. The magnitude of the earthquake was 5.6 on the Richter scale.

According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), a France-based earthquake monitoring organization, the earthquake occurred at 11:36 PM Bhutan time (which is the same time in Bangladesh).

The EMSC reported that the epicenter of the earthquake was located 19 kilometers north-northeast of Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan. It originated at a depth of 10 kilometers.

According to data from the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the epicenter of the earthquake is located in the Northern Hemisphere at 27.64 degrees north of the equator.

Farzana Sultana, Assistant Meteorologist at the Seismic Monitoring Center of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, confirmed, "The intensity of this earthquake was 5.6 on the Richter scale."

She added that the epicenter was located in Bhutan, approximately 432 kilometers north of Dhaka.
