Bangladesh recorded nine further dengue deaths in the 24 hours to 8 am on Tuesday, taking this year’s toll from the mosquito-borne disease to 316 as 1,954 new patients were admitted to hospitals.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the latest admissions underscore the sustained pressure on the country’s healthcare system as infections persist. The figures, published in the agency’s dengue report on Tuesday (13 October), show that the outbreak has yet to loosen its grip.
Furthermore, the cumulative number of hospitalisations has reached 103,396 since the beginning of the year. Of these patients, 97,296 have been discharged after receiving treatment, a reminder that the majority recover when they receive timely care.
