Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has emphasized that accreditation is a crucial instrument for ensuring Bangladesh’s industrial competitiveness in the global market, calling for greater focus on innovation and sustainable production practices.
In a message posted on her verified Facebook page on Monday evening ahead of World Accreditation Day 2026, the Prime Minister said accreditation is not merely a certification process but a strategic tool to strengthen industries in an increasingly competitive global economy.
She highlighted that modern consumers are no longer satisfied with product quality alone; they now evaluate ethical production standards, environmental impact, and corporate responsibility. In this context, she stressed that Bangladesh must adopt environmentally friendly and sustainable production systems to remain competitive internationally.
The Prime Minister noted that innovation, trust, and sustainability are now deeply interconnected pillars of economic growth, forming the foundation of long-term industrial development. She also praised initiatives taken by the Ministry of Industries and the Bangladesh Accreditation Board (BAB) in marking World Accreditation Day 2026 under the theme “Innovation, Trust and Sustainability: The Power of Accreditation.”
According to her statement, the Bangladesh Accreditation Board has been working to enhance the country’s quality infrastructure by ensuring internationally recognized standards for goods and services. So far, the board has accredited 168 public, private, and multinational institutions across five accreditation schemes aligned with global benchmarks.
World Accreditation Day is jointly observed on June 9 by the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) to highlight the importance of quality assurance, safety, and trust in everyday products and services.
