Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has imposed maximum alert across several border areas in Kurigram to prevent smuggling and illegal entry.
In a statement on Saturday, the Commanding Officer of Kurigram Battalion (22 BGB), Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Mahbub-ul-Haq, said the force remains vigilant to ensure strict border security and has strengthened surveillance across the district.
He added that BGB is maintaining a “zero tolerance” policy against smuggling and unauthorized border crossings, with additional precautionary measures already in place in different frontier zones.

The heightened alert comes after a recent incident on Friday night in the Kasba border area of Brahmanbaria, where two Bangladeshis were reportedly shot dead by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) while attempting to enter India. Several others were also injured in the incident.
Officials from BGB’s 60 Battalion said the deceased were allegedly involved in smuggling activities, and efforts are underway to bring their bodies back from India.
