170 Bangladeshi return home from Libya

Another 170 Bangladeshi nationals have been repatriated from Libya, thanks to continued efforts by the Bangladesh Embassy in Tripoli and support from the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
The returnees arrived in Dhaka on Monday morning aboard Buraq Air flight UZ222.
Among them, 62 were brought back from Tripoli and 108 from Benghazi, where they had been living in vulnerable and risky conditions, officials said.

Sixteen of the returnees were reported to be physically ill. The group from Tripoli also included 37 Bangladeshis who were released from the custody of local law enforcement agencies on April 20 following intervention by the Bangladesh Embassy.
The Bangladesh Embassy in Tripoli said efforts are underway to repatriate another 175 Bangladeshis from the Tajoura detention center on May 31.
