Rani Mukerji`s mother Krishna passes away at 75

Krishna Mukerji, mother of Bollywood actor Rani Mukerji, died on Tuesday at the age of 75, with Yash Raj Films confirming her passing in a statement; the cause of death has not been disclosed.

In its statement, Yash Raj Films expressed profound grief over Krishna Mukerji's demise and thanked well-wishers for their love, prayers and support during the family's difficult time, while also requesting that the family's privacy be respected. Krishna was frequently seen accompanying her daughter at public events, and Rani had, on several occasions, spoken candidly about the close bond she shared with her mother. Moreover, Krishna was closely associated with the Bengali film industry and had likewise worked as a playback singer.

The Mukerji family is now mourning her loss, with relatives expressing gratitude for the outpouring of public support and prayers. Rani Mukerji, meanwhile, has established herself as one of Bollywood's most prominent actors through films including Ghulam, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Saathiya, Hum Tum and Black, and was most recently seen in Mardaani 3, released in 2026.
