The Islamic Foundation has issued an urgent warning to imams, khatibs, muezzins, and mosque management committee members nationwide regarding a fraud syndicate attempting to steal personal and financial information by falsely pretending to represent the organization.
The caution was officially circulated on Saturday (July 11, 2026), in a public notice signed by Billal Bin Kashem, the Public Relations Officer of the Islamic Foundation.
According to the official release, the scam ring has been contacting mosque personnel across various districts, upazilas, and union levels, claiming to be officials from the Islamic Foundation's head office.
The scammers are exploiting telephone calls, mobile networks, social media, and various online platforms to fish for sensitive operational and personal data as-

The Islamic Foundation firmly clarified that its central headquarters, as well as its district and upazila branches, never request sensitive or personal information through unauthorized channels or random numbers.
"If anyone contacts you promising financial benefits, honorariums, allowances, grants, or any governmental assistance, and demands your bank details, OTPs, PIN numbers, or mobile banking data, it is highly likely an attempt at fraud," the notice warned.
The authorities have strongly urged all imams, khatibs, muezzins, and committee members to exercise extreme caution: Never share personal details, bank data, OTPs, or PINs with strangers or suspicious callers.
If someone demands money or official data using the Islamic Foundation's name, the claims must immediately be cross-verified through the respective local district or upazila offices.
Any fraudulent attempts or suspicious communications must be reported right away to local law enforcement agencies and relevant foundation officials.
The Islamic Foundation, which has long been supervising mosque-based activities, imam training, and religious education in Bangladesh, expressed deep regret that scammers are attempting to confuse devout citizens and tarnish the institution's hard-earned reputation.
