Quranic supplications for seeking Allah`s provision

Quranic supplications for seeking Allah`s provision

Rizq encompasses far more than mere wealth, extending to food, clothing, shelter, health and the myriad other blessings indispensable to human existence; consequently, when confronted with financial hardship, debt or difficulty in securing a livelihood, a believer is encouraged to turn to Allah, the ultimate provider, while nevertheless persisting in the pursuit of lawful means of earning.

The Quran contains several supplications through which believers may beseech Allah's mercy, blessings, and provision. The first is a supplication associated with Prophet Musa (AS): "My Lord, indeed I am, for whatever good You would send down to me, in need" (Surah Al-Qasas, 28:24). The second is the well-known prayer for goodness spanning both worlds: "Our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire" (Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:201). The third is the supplication offered by the disciples of Prophet Isa (AS): "Our Lord, send down to us a table from heaven … and provide for us, and You are the best of providers" (Surah Al-Ma'idah, 5:114).

Reciting these supplications, moreover, can fortify a believer's reliance upon Allah while reinforcing the understanding that all provision ultimately emanates from Him alone. Supplication, however, ought to be accompanied by sincere effort, lawful earnings, righteousness, repentance, and unwavering trust in Allah; seeking rizq, therefore, entails both turning to Allah in prayer and diligently fulfilling one's responsibilities through honest and ethical means.
