BNP's Acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has issued a stern warning that stringent measures will be taken against anyone who exploits the party's name to engage in wrongdoing, underscoring that upholding party discipline now constitutes the organisation's foremost responsibility.
Speaking to reporters on Monday afternoon after paying homage at the mausoleums of martyred President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, Rizvi asserted that the BNP-led government had been working assiduously for the welfare of both the public and the party since assuming office, and claimed that the popularity of the administration under Tarique Rahman had grown manifold among the populace. He alleged that the party continued to face a barrage of conspiracies from its detractors, yet maintained that it had thus far navigated these challenges and continued to advance undeterred.

On the matter of local government elections, Rizvi indicated that responsibility for selecting party-backed candidates would rest with local leadership, and expressed optimism that BNP-endorsed candidates stood a strong chance of victory despite the absence of a party symbol in these contests.
