BNP Acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has said there is no place in Bangladesh for forces opposed to the country’s independence, sovereignty and democracy. Speaking at a protest rally at the north gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in Dhaka on Friday, he said the BNP and Nationalist Ulama Dal would resist attempts to turn Bangladesh into a “subservient state.”

Rizvi also praised Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s address to the 81st United Nations General Assembly, saying it reflected calls for peace, diplomacy, education and humanity rather than weapons. In his UN speech, Tarique advocated dialogue and diplomacy in resolving conflicts and reiterated Bangladesh’s support for Palestinian self-determination and the safe return of Rohingya refugees to Myanmar.

Rizvi further alleged that a group was seeking to disrupt Bangladesh’s democratic progress through planned violence and arson, urging his party’s activists to remain vigilant. He said nationalist forces would not compromise on protecting the country’s independence and sovereignty, while calling for continued political participation and democratic processes.
